President Barack Obama surprised many tourists and locals in Washington, D.C. when he took an impromptu walk along the Ellipse on his way to a meeting at the Department of the Interior on Wednesday.
The video released by The White House, titled “A Surprise Walk with the President” has gone viral online with over 700,000 views on YouTube.
“You gotta catch folks by surprise. Can’t be regular, can’t be routine,” Obama declares in the video.
Obama appears loose and relaxed as he meets and greets people along the way including two young girls he gives special White House M&Ms.
One woman is so awestruck that she actually asks the President, “Are you real?”
Another woman, Karen, exclaims that this is the best day of her life. As she poses for a picture with the President, she adds, “someone is going to think you are like wax.”
