Google and Digital Globe have released satellite photos of Obrenovac, Serbia, before and after the floods that devastated the country.

On May 17, floodwaters triggered thousands of landslides throughout the Balkans, even uncovering landmines left over from the region’s 1990s war.

Tens of thousands were forced to flee their homes and many were airlifted to safety as the waters continued to rise. At least 25 people were killed.

The region got about three months’ worth of rain in three days, creating the worst floods since recordkeeping began 120 years ago.
