WINNIPEG — Two business owners in the Exchange District want to share their love of board games with you.
Across the Board game café holds its grand opening Thursday evening.
The owners grew up playing board games, but the idea to open a licensed establishment combining café style fare and their love of board games came after a battle with cancer.

“I think we have this critical mass of maybe trying this as a place where people can gather in the community and as a business venture, because I think there seems to be some real interest, and it was a passion that I had. I really wanted to share that with a larger community,” said co-owner Olaf Pyttlik.
Roughly 700 games line the bookshelves inside the café, a personal collection that has grown over the years.
Owners hope the café brings people to not only play games, but encourages them to put their phones down and enjoy the company of fellow board gamers.
“It’s really just, it’s wood, it’s games and it’s food and it’s talking to people in real life and it’s having fun that way,” said co-owner Clinton Skibitzky.
