Radiohead debuted their new song called “Staircase” on the BBC program From the Basement, which will air on July 1.
In typical – and amiable – Radiohead fashion, the band also released the single Tuesday morning on YouTube.
Radiohead made headlines in 2007 when they released their seventh album, In Rainbows, on their website as a digital download. Radiohead fans were able to choose how much they wanted to pay for the album, including nothing at all. The website simply read, “it’s up to you.”
In Rainbows was physically released in the UK and North America – months after the digital download was purchased a reported 1.2 million times. The album charted at number on in both the US and UK, and sold over three million copies within the first year.
