KELOWNA, B.C. – A sedan plowed into traffic on Highway 97 Friday morning as vehicles were stopped at a red light.
The accident happened around 9:30 A.M. at University Way, in front of UBC Okanagan.
A northbound van struck the back end of a vehicle at a standstill at full speed. That triggered three more accidents in front of the car.
There are no reports of injuries. Airbags were deployed in most of the damaged vehicles.
Traffic heading northbound on Highway 97 was brought to a halt while emergency crews attended at the scene.
The man behind the wheel of the sedan that initially impacted the stopped traffic would not tell Global Okanagan’s reporter at the scene why he failed to stop.
