Brandon, Man., Mayor Decter Hirst hopes to keep city’s top job

BRANDON, Man. – The mayor of Manitoba’s second-biggest city says she will seek another term in office when voters go to the polls in the Oct. 22 municipal election.

Brandon’s Shari Decter Hirst says the city is one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada and she wants to keep up the momentum.

Brandon has experienced a lot of growth in the past four years and it’s important to keep broadening its economic base, Decter Hirst said.

Former city councillor and Brandon businessman Rick Chrest announced in January that he will enter the mayoralty race.
