Occupational fraudster sentenced to five years in prison

CALGARY – A woman accused of faking her way into a number of occupations has been sentenced to more jail time.

Brigitte Marier has a long criminal history of conning a number of professionals across North America.

In Calgary, Marier was found fraudulently working as a nurse at the Richmond Square Medical Centre without proper credentials. She presented a fake resume and nursing documents to get a job at the clinic.

She also pled guilty to fraudulently working as a nurse at another facility in Calgary as well as working as a biology teacher at Rose Sauvage School.

She has also faked her way into a hair salon that was later closed and put up for sale, leaving her business partner on the hook for $20,000.

On Friday, Judge Peter Barley sentenced Marier to five years in jail with credit for time already served, meaning she has two years and 11 months left of her sentence.

Marier has also served jail time in Ontario for posing as registered nurse in that province.

Additionally, she is wanted in Colorado and Florida for fraud related charges.
