Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for:

  • Saskatoon
  • Martensville – Warman – Rosthern – Delisle – Wakaw region
  • Kindersley – Rosetown – Biggar – Wilkie – Macklin region
  • Leader – Gull Lake region
  • Swift Current – Herbert – Cabri – Kyle – Lucky Lake region
  • Shaunavon – Maple Creek – Val Marie – Cypress Hills region
  • Outlook – Watrous – Hanley – Imperial – Dinsmore region
  • Moose Jaw – Pense – Central Butte – Craik region
  • Assiniboia – Gravelbourg – Coronach region
  • A hot and humid airmass over Southwestern Saskatchewan will provide the necessary ingredients for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain large hail and damaging winds.

    Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

    A moist and unstable air mass combined with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper twenties will provide the necessary ingredients for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening over Southwestern Saskatchewan. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon over parts of Southwestern Saskatchewan and then slowly move northeastward. Heavy rain strong gusty winds and large hail will be associated with these thunderstorms. Remember that tornadoes are also possible with some severe thunderstorms.
