TORONTO – The three deadly explosions that rattled India’s financial capital Wednesday coincides with the 24th birthday of Pakistani Islamist terrorist Ajmal Kasab, according to reports by media outlets in India.
Kasab, who was born on July 13, is currently in Indian police custody.
He is the lone terrorist captured in connection to the November 26, 2008 shooting and bombing attacks on Mumbai.
Kasab was sentenced to death last May for his role in the 60-hour terrorist siege that left 166 people dead.
According to the latest confirmed reports, at least 17 people were killed and at least 70 people were injured in Wednesday’s attack on three busy city neighbourhoods.
The blasts mark the first major terrorist strike on Mumbai since November 2008.
