WINNIPEG – Winnipeggers were outside Sunday enjoying the more seasonal weather.
The first warm weekend of spring may be three weeks late, but it’s better late than never.
“I’ve been waiting for this since October,” said Mark Preston, who enjoyed his day at The Forks.
The Forks was the place to be on Sunday, with summer-like festivities in full swing, from people eating ice cream with grins on their faces to the smell of hot dogs in the air.
Many even ventured to eat lunch outside picnic style and other did tricks at a skate park.
“We’re just trying to get as much biking in with the nice weather as possible because it’s starting to get nice again,” said BMX biker Curtis Kroeker.
Kids also had a blast splashing through puddles in their rain boots, but those puddles are a headache to others.
With the warmer temperatures comes thawing, so bad that some West End streets were completely flooded.
With the temperature rising throughout the week, the slushy mess is only bound to get worse, especially after the coldest winter since 1898, according to Environment Canada.
