City recruiting to help clean up Edmonton

EDMONTON – It’s that time of year again.

“All the treasures that were left behind from a very cold and long winter —  spring cleanup is about to start . We know that there’s a lot of work ahead of us, we need the help of volunteers,” said Capital City Cleanup manger, Don Belanger.

Capital City Cleanup organizers say spring is the perfect time to ‘adopt a block’ and get garbage off the streets, parks and walkways since every year, litter and other debris accumulates underneath the snow.

Volunteers can register online to help out, and will be given cleanup kits, including bags and gloves.

Organizers say it’s great exercise and a good way to socialize with your neighbours.

Last year about 900 people helped out. The City is hoping for 1,000 volunteers this year.
