It’s been almost a year since the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann, who were last seen gassing up in St. Albert in early July. Their burned out motorhome was found a couple days later southeast of Edson, on a site near Lodgepole, Alberta. That’s where a civilian crew focused their search efforts on Sunday, spending the day navigating the rough terrain on quads and foot, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

"Obviously we’re looking for things that tie people to the disappearance of the McCanns. Without going into detail its hard to go specific – but anything unnatural to the environment," said Don Drebert of the Brazeau Regional Search and Rescue team.

The Brazeau rescue crew was directed back to the scene by RCMP, who accompanied the searchers on Sunday. Some of the searchers have participated in more than a dozen searches related to the McCann investigation. Aside from searches, RCMP continue to receive tips about the couple’s disappearance but Crime Stoppers’ $60,000 reward for information that leads police to the couple has yet to be claimed.
