The Palestinian Foreign Ministry is urging international governments to take “clear and firm positions” on escalating violence in the West Bank just days before Israel’s parliamentary election.
A day after attacks by Palestinian gunmen killed two soldiers, Israel imposed widespread closures, with more than 1,000 residents displaced in the city of Hebron.
All gates leading in and out of the city were closed to vehicles, according to Basma Radio, a Telegram channel Palestinians use to monitor checkpoints and road closures. Hebron’s mayor accused the Israelis of laying siege to his city.
On Friday, Israel’s army said that in response to the attacks, its forces had begun “conducting precise, targeted and thorough searches” in the area where the gunmen had operated.
In a statement on social media, Palestine’s Foreign Ministry said Israel’s actions included the “forced displacement and destruction, and the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque sanctuary.”
The ministry accused the Israeli army of targeting Palestinian citizens and their properties, warning against a repetition of what it called the “ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip.”
The statement said Israel is “constituting measures to reproduce the Nakba with renewed military and colonial tools, amid the Israeli electoral race and the pursuit of political gains at the expense of Palestinian national rights.”

The escalating conflict comes just three days before Israelis vote in a national election.
Polls suggest three years of war have eroded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s support.
With more than 1,500 Palestinians killed in Gaza since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect in October 2025, Israelis in Canada said they are returning to vote in what feels like a “last chance” election.
The death toll numbers come from Gaza’s health ministry. The ministry maintains detailed records and is regarded as generally reliable by U.N. agencies and independent experts. Part of the Hamas-run government, the ministry does not distinguish between civilians and militants but says women and children make up nearly half of those killed.
“This feels almost like the last chance, the last heartbeat, to beat the Netanyahu movement and to get this country back on course. The desperation is palpable. It’s always been stressful and hard, but at this time it seems like it’s really the last chance,” one Israeli-Canadian told the Associated Press.
He said his family, many of whom still live in Israel, have been pleading with him to return and cast a ballot.
“And I just realized it would be really obnoxious of me to keep saying no and no and no,” he said.
While these Israelis live outside of the Middle East, they still feel the effects of what one called a “vendetta” on Gaza.
“I’m embarrassed to say I’m from Israel,” she said. “I feel I have to apologize. I’m sorry that I’m from this country that’s doing such horrible things.”
She said she owes it to her friends, family and fellow Israelis to return and have her vote counted.
Netanyahu, 77, is Israel’s longest-serving prime minister and longtime leader of the Likud Party.
In 2024, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Netanyahu’s arrest over allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. He is also embroiled in a years-long legal battle at home, having been charged with fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes. He denies any wrongdoing.
Netanyahu’s main opponent in the election is Gadi Eisenkot, 66, who positions himself as a moderate alternative.
Eisenkot rose through the ranks of the Israeli military, eventually becoming chief of staff.
He also served as an observer in Netanyahu’s war cabinet, but resigned after eight months, accusing the prime minister of lacking a clear strategy.
Also on the ballot are former prime minister Naftali Bennett, national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Mansour Abbas, the leader of the Arab-Muslim political party Ra’am.

This anonymous bot is back again. Ignore the rambling, you’re talking with a soulless silicon board.
He is literally we.
She is no different from the latin association with masculin and feminine words.
He, is everyone, she is something else, is a literal translation in meaning.
Yes, words are abused as much as they evolve with time.
He is everyone, not because of sexism, but she is certainly she due to sexist beliefs.
The difference is as much perspective as it is reflection.
I am he*
As you are he*
As you are me
And we are all together
*remember the word is cognate with Old Saxon hē, Old Frisian hi, Middle Dutch he, and Gothic *𐌷𐌹𐍃 (his).
Related Forms: The Proto-Germanic root also produced the first element in German heute (“today,” literally “the day”).
Neuter Development: The modern pronoun it evolved from the Old English neuter singular hit, where the initial h- eventually wore off.
But I am certain someone is upset by the lack of she.
I highlight the last statement as a strawman argument for educational purposes.
Be less stupid n stuff…
And if I don’t get it.
If I do not get equal representation under your government, it is because you have failed me.
My right, is my number. You may transfer that number to a dollar and someone else will transfer it to the army at your doorstep.
If you do not believe that to be pragmatic, you need to go back to Hollywood where your dreams do come true.
My Liberal friend wanted me to explain what a comment was, as they apparently have no knowledge of dictionaries and the like.
Well, dear friend, a comment, I said with the confidence of a literate person that has read the Charter of Rights and lived long enough to hear or learn of landmark cases, and understands that it is the most basic human of rights we confer. The right to freely express an opinion, without fear of government prosecution. This belief transcends any medium that exists or is conceivably a future extension of.
Email needed no more legislation than opening it is a federal crime.
But, apparently there is much ado about the letter E.
I grow tired of your excuses for thwarting my will.
I owe you nothing. You owe me equal representation.
And the Pink Brigade says:
Hamas were duly elected, 20 years ago.
Please, go on.
What do you think?
Also: what you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Hamas declares: stop that democratic thing!
I don’t care what Israel does to Gaza. That is war, and the Palestinians started it on October 7. But what Israel is doing in the West Bank are crimes against humanity. If the Israeli “settlers” (read: terrorists) continue trying to displace the Palestinian population in the West Bank then they don’t get to cry about it when the Palestinians shoot back. And if Israeli soldiers are going to protect the settler scumbags then they are fair game, too.

The pattern is clear. Palestinian terrorists attack Israeli soldiers or civilians prompting a reaction from Israel and somehow Israel becomes the aggressor.
Ummm no, HAMAS terrorists attack IDF and IDF takes it out on everyone. Go f*ck yourself you j*w loving c*nt.
The pattern is clear. Palestinian terrorists attack Israeli soldiers or civilians prompting a reaction from Israel and somehow Israel becomes the aggressor.
I see other news outlets reported Palestinian Hamas terrorists saying they will repeat the Oct 7 massacre. I do not support Palestine anymore.
October 7th? You asked for what you received. Stop shielding terrorists and we may have sympathy l

By Palestinian Officials, Rachel means Hamas terrorists.
154 vs 71. U.N. condemnations from 2015 to 2023. The U.N. condemned Israel more than ALL other countries combined. More than 8.3 BILLION other people in 192 countries.
Biased, maybe? Like the Media!
Have the Hamas terrorist organization or Mahmoud Abbas had elections in decades? Has Hamas terrorists disarmed as per the Ceasefire
Where exactly were these “Palestinian officials” elected and what country do they represent?
Crazy thought: don’t want Judea and Samaria closed off? Don’t be disgusting genocidal Hamas terrorists. Typical Palestinian garbage. Start wars and then play the victim.
The what?
Any government that can help the Palestinians but doesn’t is a fraud and genocide supporting bunch of AZZHOLES and COWARDS! Time to smash Israel and the IDF to pieces and burn it out for good.

The way this article was written seems convoluted, and is all over the board. Was this compiled by AI?
The Israeli government is trying to unalienable all Palistineans. It’s time for there to be two state solution not police by either party to the conflict, but a fair third party. I look at those children being bombed and cannot imagine my own living under those horrific conditions.
To the previous guy. There was no nation of Canada until there was a Canada. There was no nation of Germany until there was a Germany. Nations are formed via people who live there. And Arab Christians and Muslims have lived on that same land since the 700s
There is no such thing as a Palestinian. Thee end.
Wipe Gaza off the planet
The word “settler” was not used once in this article, which supposedly was about unease in the West Bank. Was this written by AI? Great job Global News.
