Cheaper gas – Interrupter clause should lower N.S. gas prices at midnight

HALIFAX – Nova Scotia drivers can expect a change in the price of gasoline at midnight and indications suggest the news will be good.

The Nova Scotia Utilities and Review Board says it will invoke the interrupter clause for the first time ever to change the price of regular gasoline.

Paul Allen, the board’s executive director, isn’t saying if the price will go up or down.

However, the price of crude has fallen 16 per cent since May 2.

The price of a litre of self-serve regular in Halifax on Tuesday was $132.8.

Last week, New Brunswick used its interrupter clause to lower the price of gas by 8.3 cents a litre.

The review board in Nova Scotia says the market changes in the price of diesel oil aren’t sufficient enough to warrant a price adjustment at this time.
