Ex Alberta energy minister Rick Orman to run again for premier’s job

<p>EDMONTON – Rick Orman, Alberta’s former energy minister, is making a run for the province’s top job.</p> <p>Sources tell The Canadian Press that Orman will announce Wednesday that he will become the sixth candidate in the race to replace Premier Ed Stelmach.</p> <p>It will be the second shot at the top job for the 62-year-old Calgary businessman, who is currently working in the oil and gas sector.</p> <p>He lost the 1992 leadership Progressive Conservative Party leadership race, coming in third behind Nancy Betkowski, and the winner Ralph Klein.</p> <p>Stelmach is expected to step down in the fall with a new leader chosen in September.</p> <p>Three of Stelmach’s cabinet ministers – Doug Horner, Alison Redford and Ted Morton – left their posts earlier this year to run for the leadership.</p> <p>Backbencher Doug Griffiths and Gary Mar, an ex-cabinet minister from the Klein years, are also in the race.</p>
