Jessica says the Blades Make a Wish game is the place to be

Mornings News has guests explaining the Blades’ Make a Wish game, in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation, this Saturday.

It’s inspiring what people do to make the day of a sick child.

Wish Game Night is this Saturday and I encourage everyone to go out and support the Make a Wish Foundation!

Jessica learns which travel websites are best

Travel Tips on Morning News has Barb from Ixtapa Travel discussing which websites to use when booking that next vacation.

After this segment, I want to go to Hawaii. I think it’s time I get away from this weather.

How about you?

Barb did mention one of the attractions for Honolulu was the International Market Place, however, after a comment from a viewer and a little investigation on my end, it turns out the market place closed earlier this year!

But of course, Hawaii is Hawaii, and that is not the only attraction.

Kevin chats about CrossFit with a Saskatoon gym owner

It was awesome getting to speak with an old coach of mine.

Yes, I did CrossFit; no, I don’t any longer. Why? Because it’s expensive.

That’s not to say you’re not getting your money’s worth, just that I, at this point, would rather save the excess and work out at home.

But I miss it every time I do a push-up on the carpet in my basement; the sounds of others grimacing their way through a tough set; the pique one feels at the motivational calls from someone else nearby.

People are wont to stand on the outside of a healthy community and call it a cult. Those within might even call it a family. The function’s the same.

When something bad happens to someone in a physical setting, people tend to blame the source and not the individual; why don’t pay-per-month gyms ever get attacked when someone gets hurt at one? Heck, those stories never seem to come up. Except for poor CrossFit.

Well, CrossFit Brio will soon have Brio West functioning as well. There are protests, sometimes loud ones, yet the world keeps filling with people who believe in the principle of what CrossFit stands for and aims to do.

I stand with them.

Kevin learns about a new Saskatoon Food Bank campaign

Global’s Kevin Stanfield learned about the newest campaign with the Saskatoon Food Bank.

There is so much to learn about poverty and as their upcoming campaign will show off, it’s so simple, even a kid could figure it out.

Poverty costs will be something to keep an eye on.

The concept of this campaign is exceptionally simple, but I sincerely hope it gains the traction to make a difference.

Heck, I was happy to volunteer some time to be a part of it already!

Spoiler alert: I am made to look like a fool in it. Surprising, I know. That almost never happens.

Melissa introduces Music for Mutts performance

Whenever we have animals in studio my heart just melts. And today was no different, especially after hearing Zeppelin’s story.

Despite his past, he has a very fun-loving and playful personality making him a very attractive dog for any homeowner.

There are many other dogs that are in need of homes or medical care, all of which can be very expensive. This is why Cassandra and the folks at the Saskatoon Academy of Music have decided to put on this fundraising concert.

All the proceeds go to the New Hope Dog Recue and will help them care for their dogs.

And of course, while helping the organization you also get great performances to satisfy your live music fix.

If you’re interested in checking out the show you can head to the academy.
