WINNIPEG – Explosions rocked a grocery store parking lot Monday morning.

A van caught fire in the parking lot of the Superstore on Sargent Avenue at about 11:30 a.m.

Someone in the store was recording video of the burning vehicle when it exploded, sending a fireball into the sky.

It’s believed there were propane tanks in the van, though it’s unknown what caused the fire.

A man reportedly in his 70s was rushed to hospital in unstable condition from the scene, but was later upgraded to stable condition.

The van that exploded wasn’t the only vehicle damaged.

“There’s quite a few number of vehicles, the extent of the fire damage I believe it was four vehicles in the proximity of it,” fire chief Ted Kuryluk said.
