It was a devastating scene for one Winnipeg homeowner early Sunday morning, who came home to find a van had crashed into his home.
It happened to a house on Lincrest Road in Garden City just before 1 a.m.
Jeffrey Bannon tells Global News no one was home at the time.
“If we were home, my wife and I would have been under that van as he ran over the couch we sit to watch TV,” he said in an email.
Police say the driver of the van was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The whole front of the house is destroyed,” said Trevor Eschuk, who lives nearby. “It looked like it bounced off the side of the garage a bit and went in through the window. I can’t believe it could make it that far into the house.”
Bannon said the house is losing power to the upstairs. Crews are still working on cleaning up all of the debris.
“Still can’t believe a van was in my living room,” he said.
