Canadian bobsleigh pilot suffers wardrobe malfunction in Sochi

It appears to be a case of too many McDonalds meals in the Athletes’ Village.

Canadian bobsleigh pilot Christopher Spring was trying on his race suit on Saturday, one day before the bobsleigh event got underway, when he suffered a wardrobe malfunction.

Speed skater William Dutton responded to Spring’s tweet saying:

However, the team was properly suited up in time for the first race on Sunday.

This is Spring’s first time competing for Canada. In Vancouver in 2010 he competed in bobsleigh for his native Australia.

But this time around, the Calgary resident competes in the two-man with Jesse Lumsden, while he leads the four-man group that consists of Lumsden, Cody Sorensen and Ben Coakwell.

In 2012 Spring was involved in a crash in Germany that left him in hospital for days. During a training run, Spring was piloting a four-man team when he lost control and the sled crashed into the roof of the track.

Spring suffered a major puncture wound to his buttocks and upper leg area. He returned to the sport in April 2012.

The bobsleigh two-man event gets underway on Sunday.
