Two fires break out in North Okanagan

A barn in Lavington has burned down to the ground after a fire broke out just before noon on Thursday.

Lumby Fire Chief Tony Clayton says the barn was fully engulfed when crews arrived on the scene.

Three sheep that were inside the barn died in the fire.

No people were inside the building.

Clayton says no cause has been determined but there are early indications the fire was accidental.

The barn is a total loss.

Damages are estimated to be about $40,000.

Meanwhile, a mobile home in Falkland is a complete loss after a fire ripped through it late Thursday night.

Crews responded to the fire on Falkland Road around 10:30 pm.

The mobile home, which was being re-modeled, was unoccupied.

Fire crews spent three hours putting out the flames, which completely gutted the trailer.

Falkland Fire Chief Tony Ricard says the fire appears to be accidental and may have had something to do with the renovations.

There is no estimate on damages.

No one was injured.
