UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed the home invasion occurred and that three men entered the residence armed with weapons. “A struggle ensued between the male suspects and the male home owner,” according to an RCMP press release. “During the altercation the home owner was shot in the shoulder. The males then fled the area before police arrived on scene.”
It is extremely fortunate that no one else was injured or killed in this violent home invasion,
said Sicamous Detachment Commander, Sgt. Dave Dubnyk. The family is cooperating with police and investigators are attempting to identify the three male suspects who were not known to the family.

MALAKWA, B.C.: She doesn’t want her last name used, but Angela told Global Okanagan her harrowing tale that left her husband in hospital with a gunshot wound.
She says it happened around 5 p.m. when her husband and her, along with their three children, aged 9-13, were preparing for supper.
She went to answer a knock at the door only to be confronted by three armed masked men. Angela says they tried to force their way into the house, when an altercation broke out between her and her husband and the three men.
Angela’s husband managed to stab one of the suspects with a bread knife and numerous shots were apparently fired during the melee; one bullet striking the husband in the shoulder.
She says they were still able to push the masked trio away from the home.
Angela claims that before the three masked men fled in their car, one of them came back to the wounded homeowner and tried to shoot him in the head; the bullet just grazing the man’s head.
Police say the public is not in danger and the attack appears targeted, perhaps a case of mistaken address, as there is a medical marijuana grow operation in the area.
