Edmonton – Pharmacists in Alberta can now counsel customers on how to quit smoking.

And under a wider range of services approved by the province, they can also set up care plans for people with chronic conditions.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

Pharmacists will charge between 20 dollars and 100 dollars for the services, but taxpayers will pick up the cost.

The changes are part of a four-year, 55-million-dollar plan signed with the Alberta Pharmacists Association, which is expected to reduce workloads for other health providers.
