Sentencing for a man involved  in a deadly Richmond car crash in 2010 will be held in about two weeks.

Initially, the man who survived, Juan Pablo Alvarez, told police he was a passenger who had been sleeping in the backseat during the collision on the Knight Street Bridge. He said the other man in the car, who was killed in the crash, was the one driving. However, extensive DNA testing revealed that to be a lie.

The survivor has pleaded guilty to impaired driving and dangerous driving causing death. It’s not clear if the Crown has made a sentencing recommendation in the case.
