Canada’s Mark McMorris qualifies for men’s slopestyle final at Sochi

Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris has qualified for the medal round in men’s slopestyle after an amazing second run in the semifinals Saturday in Sochi.

McMorris will join fellow Canucks Maxence Parrot and Sebastien Toutant after finishing third in the men’s semifinal.

After a shaky first run, McMorris pulled out a brilliant performance in his second run, nabbing one of the four remaining spots with a score of 89.25.

MocMorris, a native of Regina, Sask. broke a rib two weeks ago but was medically cleared to participate in the games.

Fellow Canadian Charles Reid failed to reach one of the top four spots needed to continue on to Saturday’s final.
