Winnipeg police have confirmed the targets of raids at several locations in the city Wednesday morning had ties to outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Officers swooped in on homes in the 200-block of Nassau Street, the 300-block of River Road, the 2300-block of St. Mary’s Road, and the 200-block of Vermillion Road before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning as part of what police are calling “Project Napoleon," targeting organized crime and drugs.
In a news release Thursday, police say the following items were seized:
– Approximately 16 ounces of Cocaine, estimated street value $26,000.00
– An estimated two kilograms of cutting agent
– 14 grams Marihuana, with an estimated street value of $1,400
– Approximately $4,000 Canadian Currency
– Approximately $60 US Currency
– Approximately $50 of Methamphetamine
– Assorted packaging material and a digital scale
– One firearm and ammunition
Six people were arrested, who police say have ties to the Zig Zag Crew and Hells Angels biker gangs.
21-year-old Joel Richard Bruneau of Winnipeg has been charged with:
– Unsafe storage prohibited firearm and numerous firearms related offences
– Possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized to wit: no firearms license
– Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
– Possession of controlled drug, marihuana
24-year-old Nicholas Dylan Bruneau of Winnipeg has been charged with possessing controlled drug or substance- Cannabis Marihuana and failing to comply with the condition of recognizance.
22-year-old Andrew Jeremy Burvill of Winnipeg has been charged with:
– Possessing substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine
– Possessing controlled drug or substance- cannabis marihuana
– Possess proceeds of crime
All three remain in custody.
Also, a 21-year-old female of Winnipeg will be facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and marihuana.
A 22-year-old male and an 18-year-old female of Winnipeg will be facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and marihuana, as well as proceeds of crime.
Both have been released on a promise to appear in court.
