Transit police release photo of suspect in Surrey sex assault

Transit police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a SkyTrain station in Surrey several months ago.

Police said a 29-year-old Japanese foreign exchange student was approached by a man at the Gateway SkyTrain station on Sept. 6 at around 10:15 a.m.

The man helped the woman buy a fare and then forced himself on her, repeatedly kissing and hugging her, according to police.

The woman was able to push the man away and head to the platform before boarding a train.

The man fled on foot. He is described as a Caucasian male in his late 50s, six feet tall, 170 pounds, with balding short hair.

He was clean shaven, wearing beige pants, possibly a green shirt, brown jacket, brown shoes and was carrying a brief case.
