They didn’t discover the windfall until checking the ticket on New Year’s Day.

“I scanned it three times at the self check and couldn’t believe I got it all three times and I gave it to the girl behind the counter and my hands were shaking like mad,” said Smith

That was before heading out to dinner with Hjermenrude’s mother.

“Eventually we just gave a big hug and screamed a little bit and tried to keep quiet and get ready for supper, we managed to keep quiet all through supper and we even let my mom pay for our supper,” said Hjermenrude.

It was only later they told her of their win.

They plan to spend the money on new cars as well as purchase their first house, it also means their four children will be getting a dog.
