REGINA – The government is assuring Saskatchewan residents there is still flu vaccine available – despite some comments from Alberta health minister Fred Horne.
“(Tuesday), Alberta received the last shipment of influenza vaccine on the planet,” Horne told reporters in Edmonton on Wednesday.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health insists that is not the case.
“Vaccine production has finished for the season. However, there is some vaccine available,” the ministry said in a statement provided to Global News on Thursday.
“We continue to closely monitor our vaccine supply, and are taking all possible steps to acquire influenza vaccine.”
Alberta Health officials say at the time that province’s shipment was ordered, it was Horne’s understanding that it was the last supply available.
Saskatchewan’s ministry says it is also working with the Public Health Agency of Canada to secure additional vaccine supplies.
