Watch: A glimpse of the comic lights
MONTREAL – Speech bubble street lights glowing along an avenue in Montreal make it feel like pedestrians are walking in a real life comic book.
Dotted along street lamps on Mont Royal Avenue between St. Laurent Blvd. and d’Iberville St., the temporary installation offers a unique perspective on winter in the city.
The idea came during after a competition was held in 2012 by the Plateau organization, the Société de développement de l’avenue du Mont-Royal, asking artists and designers to submit their bright ideas.
Estelle Jugant and Yazid Belkhir, the co-founders of Turn Me On Design applied – and won – and graffiti artist Astro and graphic designer Jean-François Poliquin were commissioned to help realize the project.
