Overdue snowmobilers rescued near Tumbler Ridge

Two snowmobilers are safe after getting stuck in deep powder near Tumbler Ridge over the weekend.

On Friday, RCMP received a report that the two men were overdue. They left Tumbler Ridge in the morning and headed to the Corelodge area.

A local search-and-rescue team was deployed after they failed to return by 9:30 at night.

Crews from Tumbler Ridge, Fort St. John and Prince George assisted with the rescue.

The men were eventually located with the help of a helicopter and were brought out to safety by mid-afternoon Saturday.

RCMP are cautioning anyone venturing out into the backcountry to plan and be prepared for anything, bring survival tools and leave an itinerary with someone.
