Woman charged in Saskatoon’s first murder of 2014

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police have charged a 35-year-old woman with first-degree murder after the city’s first murder of 2014.

The person of interest who was identified earlier in the investigation was expected to see a justice of the peace Saturday night.

Early Saturday morning, police were called to an injured child at a home in the Pleasant Hill Neighbourhood.

A 5-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death is known to police but it not being released. An autopsy is forthcoming.

Three other people in the home when the 9-1-1 call was made Saturday and they were related.
