ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – A man facing charges including attempted murder after a week-long standoff with police in Newfoundland is expected to return to court today.

Leo Crockwell faces 16 charges including five counts of attempted murder after allegedly firing shots at RCMP officers.

He has been denied bail.

Crockwell had barricaded himself inside his home in Bay Bulls, south of St. John’s, before he snuck out last month.

He was able to climb out a window without officers noticing.

The Mounties have called in Halifax police to review the incident.
