Police are looking for a suspect following a shooting early Saturday in Peterborough, Ont.
The Peterborough Police Service reports just after midnight, a woman attended the Peterborough Regional Health Centre with two gunshot wounds.
Police say the woman was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
“This is believed to be a targeted incident,” police stated Saturday afternoon.
No other details were provided.
On Monday, police did not offer any new information, reiterating the incident was still under investigation.
“Any time an incident such as this happens it is concerning for the community and for the members of our Service,” police chief Stuart Betts said in a statement to Global News. “The investigation into this incident is ongoing and we are committed to safety of everyone in the communities in which we police. We know that some of the recent violence has been brought to our community through the drug trade and are not random acts of violence. We always ask residents to report any suspicious activity to police or through Crime Stoppers.
