VANCOUVER – Police are warning the public after a woman was sexually assaulted at Victoria and 43rd Avenue Tuesday evening.
The 49-year-old woman was walking alone around 8:50 p.m. when she became aware of a man following her, according to police.
The man allegedly pulled her to the ground and groped her groin area. The woman screamed and managed to knock her attacker to the ground with a kick. As she fled he ran off eastbound on E. 43rd Avenue, police said in a release.
The victim was not physically injured.
A ground search of the area did not turn up any sign of the suspect, but police did find surveillance footage of a man matching the description of the suspect leaving the area after the attack (watch video).
The suspect is described as white, 16 to 18 years old, with a slim build, short black hair, brown eyes and good teeth. He was wearing a sky-blue rain jacket, pants and a dark baseball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver police sex-crimes unit at 604-717-3117.
