REGINA – After months of public consultations ‘Design Regina’ the official community plan for Regina went before city council on Monday night.
The plan which is designed to accommodate a population of up to 300,000 people was officially passed.
‘Design Regina’ also redefines the city’s boundaries, which will go into effect January 1st.
In the plan, the R-M of Sherwood and the city have created a joint planning area that the two communities will work together to develop.
The mayor says this serves as a blueprint for future growth.
“The city spent a lot of work for many years on this and it is good to see that we have a road map for the next 25-30 years,” said Mayor Fougere.
Within the next 30 years the city’s population could balloon to 300 thousand people.
