Starting Jan. 1, 2014, the AirCare program will be reducing its test fees. 2014 is the final year of the program before it ends.

In a press release, AirCare says the fee change is in response to the B.C. government’s request that AirCare reduce the test fee for 1992 and newer vehicles in the final year of the program. The 2014 fees will be reduced throughout the year while still maintaining the program’s legislated requirement to achieve revenue-neutrality by the end of operations.

Starting Jan. 1 the test fee for vehicles that are 1992 and newer will be reduced from $45 to $36.

The test fee for 1991 and older vehicles and for re-inspections will remain at $23.

Beginning Feb. 1, 2014, the test fee for 1992 and newer vehicles will be reduced by an additional $2 each month, while the test fee for older vehicles and re‐inspections will be reduced by $1 each month.

“In the final year of the AirCare program, we will continue to ensure that this program remains an effective air quality initiative in our region,” says AirCare general manager Dave Gourley. “We are pleased to be able to fulfil the government’s request to reduce fees not just for 1992-‐and-‐newer vehicle owners, but for all of our customers.”
