Remains of skull identified

The BC Coroner’s Service has identified the remains of a skull that washed ashore on a Kelowna City Park beach in April 2008.

The skull is that of Jeff John Kiss, 29, who was reported missing in 1995 when he failed to return from a houseboat cruise on Okanagan Lake.

Kiss’s clothing and personal property were located on the houseboat after the vessel docked; police believed he likely drowned after jumping off the houseboat to swim.

There is speculation high-pressure air hoses that were used during the construction of the Bennett Bridge dislodged the remains from the bottom of the lake.

The identification was made by collecting DNA samples from Kiss’s close family members.
