1 driver dead, 2 in custody following incident in northeast Calgary: police

The Calgary Police Service is investigating an undisclosed incident in the northeast neighbourhood of Temple that left one person dead.

Police believe an incident involving the drivers of two vehicles occurred near the intersection of Temple Drive and 58th Street/Templemont Drive Northeast at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

One person, age and gender not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The nature of their death has not been divulged.

Police confirmed to Global News early Tuesday afternoon that two people had been arrested in connection with the incident and that there was no risk to the public.

According to an EMS spokesperson, emergency crews initially responded to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. EMS confirmed no one was medically assessed at the scene and no one was transported to hospital.

Anyone who witnessed or has video footage of the incident is asked to contact the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
