WINNIPEG – The Assiniboine Riverwalk will be closed starting Monday for riverbank repairs from the train bridge near The Forks to the Manitoba Legislative Building.
The high speed of water travelling down the river during the 2011 flood damaged the riprap that protects the trail, the city said in a news release.

The river trail will be closed to pedestrian traffic from Dec. 9-21 and again from Jan. 2-31.
Access to and use of Assiniboine Avenue will continue during construction.
The closure won’t affect operation of the Red River skating trail.
