MONCTON, N.B. – The mayor of Moncton, N.B., says the Canadian Football league’s first regular-season foray into Atlantic Canada was a good investment.
George LeBlanc says they’re hopeful the various partners can come together to make it happen again next year.
The city spent $65,000 hosting Touchdown Atlantic in September.
But it is estimated that the economic impact of the week of festivities surrounding the game was worth about $6.7 million to the local economy.
The federal and New Brunswick governments contributed $1.5 million to help make the event happen.
The game between Edmonton and Toronto was played at the University of Moncton’s new stadium.
