WINNIPEG – Police, fire and paramedic crews tended to children with minor injuries after a collision involving a school bus in Winnipeg late Tuesday.
Crews took children off the bus at the intersection of Inkster Boulevard and Keewatin Street and moved some into ambulances shortly before 5 p.m.
Reports from the scene suggested none of the children was hurt seriously but some complained of minor ailments and several were taken to hospital as a precaution. Several students were placed on the Major Incident Response Vehicle (MIRV), a bus-sized ambulance operated by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
The school bus was marked Winnipeg School Division; a division spokesman wasn’t immediately aware of the details of the accident but said it is standard procedure for kids to be taken to the Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
“We’re hoping that the kids are safe and all OK,” Dale Burgos told Global News.
Another vehicle, a four-door car, was in the intersection with some damage visible. It wasn’t immediately known if the occupants were hurt.
