RCMP stopped the driver of an SUV at a roadblock early Saturday morning, but it wasn’t until they conducted a secondary inspection of the vehicle that they discovered suspected drugs hidden in everyday products.
Police say their search of the SUV found $2,775 in cash, two cell phones, and a variety of suspected illicit soft and hard drugs concealed inside hidden compartments built into everyday products, like athlete’s foot spray and tire repair.
“It is well known to police that criminals use provincial highways and municipal roadways to transport their illegal contraband. In British Columbia, front line officers receive specialized training to detect and apprehend these traveling criminals. While conducting their regular traffic enforcement duties, police often encounter criminals on the move. When an officer employs the Pipeline/Convoy methodology, these criminals are stopped,” says Cpl. Allan Roberts.
Charges were recommended against the driver of the vehicle.
