Thompson James “Rider” Yanyk was born Sunday Afternoon, just before half time.

His father, Steve Yanyk, still had hope when they went into the delivery room that he might be born early enough to make it to Mosaic Stadium to fill his seat. That turned out to be wishful thinking.

In the end, the couple is happy they could share their own historic moment with a day that will go down in Saskatchewan history.

“We’ll definitely put his Rider paraphernalia, his little rider toque and stuff in his memory box,” said his mom, Tara Yanyk. “I don’t think there will be any doubt who he’ll be cheering for for years to come.”
