The new Meta AI data centre in Northern Alberta is still under construction, but its effects on ratepayers are already being seen. A recent report done by the Pembina Institute estimates between $270 and $460 in additional electricity costs as early as next year. The province says the report is "designed to intentionally fearmonger and divide Albertans by mischaracterizing how Albertans pay for power". Gates Guarin has the story.
