For the seventh year, the Amanda Todd Legacy Society will host the fundraiser to benefit the charity’s operations and outreach on prevention and awareness related to cyberbullying, exploitation and internet safety — among all ages. The society is named after the Port Coquitlam student who took her life at home on Oct. 10, 2012, after being exploited online for years by Aydin Coban of the Netherlands. “One of the goals of Amanda’s Legacy for 2023–24 is to raise $25,000 to set up an endowment at Capilano University to create awards for students in the Music Therapy Program,” Amanda’s mother, Carol Todd, wrote on the website. “Realizing that this is a big endeavour, we are up to it. And also knowing that this is something that Amanda would have wanted to see happen, as music was one of her ways to not only express herself but to self-regulate.”
