2023 YYC Hot Chocolate Fest; supported by Global Calgary & QR Calgary

Now in its 12th year, the 2023 YYC Hot Chocolate Fest will be the biggest and best yet!

Since it’s inaugural year in 2011, this month-long event has been highlighting local businesses and Calgary’s vibrant food culture. In addition the event raises funds to support local charity Calgary Meals on Wheels. YYC Hot Chocolate Fest has grown to become a winter institution in Calgary, and with 175 vendor locations participating this year 2023 will be the biggest the event has ever been.

Every February participating cafés, restaurants and chocolatiers compete for the coveted awards of YYC’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Spirited Hot Chocolate and “Cup That Runneth Over”. For 28 days Calgarians can try all kinds of hot cocoas – from traditional to not so traditional – and then vote for their favourites on the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest app or online.

This annual event is presented by Calgary Meals on Wheels and $1 – $3 from each cup sold goes towards their programs. Calgary Meals on Wheels exists to combat food insecurity in Calgary, which they do by preparing and delivering nutritious meals to thousands of folks around the city daily. 2022 was record breaking for the non-profit as they saw over 1 million meals leave their kitchens to help vulnerable members of our community. Last year Hot Chocolate Fest raised nearly $80,000 for this great organization – and with your help this year we can raise even more!
