Manitoba music legend Burton Cummings will perform two one-of-a-kind concerts at his namesake venue, the Burton Cummings Theatre, on Dec. 28 and 31.

The Dec. 28 concert will be an up-close and unplugged performance for fans as they experience the iconic Winnipeg-born singer/songwriter and his band as never before in an acoustic and intimate setting. The Dec. 31 show will be a can’t-miss birthday bash to celebrate Cummings’ 75th birthday on that very day. Fans in attendance for Burton’s Birthday Bash will receive a complimentary souvenir lanyard and laminate to commemorate the special occasion. In addition to the reserved seating available for the Dec. 31 concert, six exclusive VIP tables in front of the stage with room for four guests at each will be available for purchase.

“Burton Cummings is one of Canada’s most celebrated rock artists, so we’re honoured to have his name on our venue, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be gracing the stage once again at this historic theatre,” said True North’s Sr. Vice President of Venues & Entertainment, Kevin Donnelly. “Many of us have been fortunate enough to see this Manitoba legend live over the years, but these two concerts in December will be unlike anything you’ve seen from Burton before. These will be bucket list concerts not only for music lovers, but for all Manitobans.”

These shows represent Cummings’ enduring commitment to seeing this historic theatre remain an integral part of Winnipeg’s downtown entertainment scene. Proceeds from the concerts will go toward the continued rejuvenation of the building that has been a gathering spot for the community since 1907. Burton’s previous performances at the theatre in 2017 sold out immediately.

About Burton Cummings

Burton Cummings is that rare artist who has transcended time, genres and generations with a body of work that continues to resonate with fans both old and new. His voice has been rated among the finest in rock music and his extensive catalogue of songs is the envy of his contemporaries. Cummings continues at the top of his game as a performer, singer, songwriter and recording artist. He is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame, Canadian Walk of Fame, Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame, Prairie Music Hall of Fame, multiple Juno Award winner, recipient of the Order of Canada, the Order of Manitoba, the Governor-General’s Performance Arts Award, and several BMI (Broadcast Music Industry) awards for over 1 million airplays of his songs. With Canada’s original rock ‘n’ roll superstars The Guess Who, Cummings scored an unprecedented string of international hit singles and albums including These EyesLaughing, No Time and American Woman, all written or co-written by Cummings. By 1970, The Guess Who had sold more records than the entire Canadian music industry combined to that point and their achievements remain unparalleled. The group notched up a long list of firsts including the first Canadian group to reach #1 on the Billboard charts (holding that spot for three weeks) and the first to earn a platinum album for sales of over 1 million copies in the U.S. Rolling Stone magazine hailed The Guess Who as “one of rock’s most consistently fascinating maverick bands, with a succession of meritorious songs that has few equals among contemporary North American groups.”
