Hello to all friends and supporters, My name is Dan Sherven and I am the Executive Director of the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan. First, if you have supported us at our past events we would like to thank-you. Last year, with community support we were able to raise over $50,000 for the various programs and services we offer! Now, I am writing you in regards to our upcoming event, Champions for Mental Health featuring Craig Heisinger as our keynote speaker. We are seeking your support to make this a successful fundraising event and join us in celebrating the 40th year of the Society. Craig Heisinger is the Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League and Senior Vice President of True North Sports and Entertainment. He is also the General Manager of the Manitoba Moose, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Jets. Throughout the year, Craig Heisinger is invited to speak at various schools, workshops or events in honour of Rick Rypien. Rypien was a former member of the Manitoba Moose, Winnipeg Jets and former captain of the Regina Pats who battled with depression. Heisinger stood by and showed great belief in his good friend throughout his struggles. One in five Canadians will develop a mental illness at some time in their lives and with the help of Heisinger’s presentations and the True North Youth Foundation’s Wellness Program, Project 11, the hope is to help end the stigma around Mental Illness, making sure no one has to ever suffer in silence. We want to change those numbers and believe this event is a powerful way to reduce stigma. This event will also help us raise money to continue to provide our programs and services to people so they will have hope and the means to cope. The event will be a Dinner and Live/Silent Auctions at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Regina on October 15, 2022. This event will take place from 5:00-10:00 p.m., and Craig will speak at 8:00 p.m. Please feel free to call the office at (306) 584-2620 or by email: Dan@schizophrenia.sk.ca Warm Regards, Dan Sherven
