Event EndedCalgary Pride presents the return to in-person programming for the 2022 pride season! The annual Calgary Pride Parade and Festival, presented by TD, is attended by thousands and celebrates the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. A variety of events will run throughout August, concluding with Pride Week from Aug 26th to Sept 5th. With the Pride Parade & Festival taking place on Sept 4th.
To symbolize the start of Pride Week, and to honour the diversity and inclusion of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Indigenous leaders and city officials will gather at City Hall on August 26th for a reverent flag raising ceremony that will open the 10-day celebration. Festivities launch the weekend of August 27th with the Calgary Pride Kick-Off Event at Central Memorial Park, which has a long history with Calgary’s 2SLGBTQ+ community. This year, folks attending will enjoy live music, vendors, and plenty of kid-friendly entertainment.
Programming continues throughout the week, leading to the much anticipated 2022 Calgary Pride Parade and Festival on September 4th. Prior to the parade launch, runners will be delighted as they participate in the mile-long Love is Love Run, which starts at 5th Street SW and ends in the East Village.
The parade begins in the Beltline district and continues through the Downtown Core along 9th Ave. The fun continues at the lively new festival venue – Fort Calgary, where attendees can experience live performances, food truck vendors, marketplace vendors, kid-friendly activities and beer gardens, all against the backdrop of the Makhabn (Bow River).
Calgary Pride invites local businesses to join the #OurPride program to show their support of the 2SLGBTQ+ community through Pride-inspired events and initiatives throughout August.
