Robert Christie holds a BA with Honors in Art and a BEd from the University of Saskatchewan. His involvement in Saskatoon’s art community has been long and varied. He has been an art educator for a number of institutions, including as a high school art teacher, the first education officer at the Mendel Art Gallery, and as a lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan from 1969-2000. He has attended many artist workshops since the late 1960s, including numerous Emma Lake Artists’ Workshops, Triangle Artists’ Workshops in New York, and the Tapong International Artists’ Workshop in Gaborone, Botswana. In 1978, Robert was a founding partner in The gallery/art placement, Inc, retiring in 2013. His work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions in both private and public art galleries since the 1970s, and can be found in many private, corporate and public collections. He continues to work full-time as an artist.
